Autumn in Driffield: Things to Do, Events and Days Out in 2026
The evenings are getting a little darker, the leaves are beginning to change and autumn is arriving across Driffield and the Yorkshire Wolds.
But the end of summer certainly doesn’t mean there’s nothing happening locally.
From pumpkin picking and autumn markets to heritage railway events, countryside walks, local food and family Halloween activities, there is plenty to look forward to over the next few weeks.
We’ve brought together some of the events and places worth adding to your diary this autumn.
Railways on the Air at Yorkshire Wolds Railway
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September
Yorkshire Wolds Railway at Fimber Halt has a special weekend planned with Railways on the Air, taking place across Saturday and Sunday.
https://www.facebook.com/YWRailway
The volunteer-run heritage railway is also open for train rides, with the 2026 operating season continuing every Sunday until the end of October.
Fimber Halt is also well worth discovering outside the special events programme. East Yorkshire’s only heritage railway is gradually restoring part of the former railway between Driffield and Malton, with visitors able to learn about local railway history and see the restoration project developing.
Planning a visit? Take a look at our complete Yorkshire Wolds Railway visitor guide in the Things to Do section.
Wold Top Oktoberfest
Saturday 26 September
Autumn celebrations are also heading to the top of the Yorkshire Wolds, with Wold Top Oktoberfest taking place at the brewery at Hunmanby Grange, Wold Newton.
The independent local brewery has confirmed the event for Saturday 26 September, with tickets currently advertised at £18. https://www.facebook.com/woldtopbrewery
It is another good excuse to explore the countryside surrounding Driffield while supporting a Yorkshire Wolds business.
Pumpkin season begins at Bewholme
Few things say autumn quite like a field full of pumpkins.
The Pumpkin Patch at Bewholme opens its farm displays and pumpkin shop on 26 and 27 September, before opening daily from 3 October until Halloween, 10:00–17:00. Entry and parking for the farm displays and shop are free.
The Pick Your Own field then operates on selected dates throughout October, with more than 45 varieties of pumpkins, gourds and squashes available. https://www.facebook.com/thepumpkinpatchproduce
Alongside pumpkin picking there are seasonal activities including a maize maze, pumpkin games, carving, photo opportunities and food and drink. Pick Your Own admission is currently £2 per person, with under-twos free.
The Pumpkin Patch is at Homeland Farm, Bewholme, within the wider YO25 area.
Please note that dogs are not permitted at the farm or Pick Your Own events, with the exception of assistance dogs.
Driffield Thursday Market
Thursday 1 October and throughout the autumn
Driffield’s traditional Thursday Market continues through the autumn in the town centre.
The market remains an important part of Driffield life, bringing together traders selling a variety of goods and giving people another reason to spend time shopping locally. Driffield Town Council is responsible for operating the market.
If you’re heading into town for the market, it’s also a good opportunity to explore Driffield’s independent shops, cafés and businesses. https://www.facebook.com/groups/369131104608453
We’ll be developing a full Driffield Thursday Market guide on Driffield Is Great, including practical visitor information and places to visit nearby.
Burton Agnes Autumn Fair
Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October
Just a short journey from Driffield, Burton Agnes Hall is welcoming autumn with its annual Autumn Fair.
Running from 10:00–17:00 on both days, the fair brings together local food, drink and craft stalls alongside entertainment and tours. There is no separate charge for the fair; it is included within normal Gardens admission. https://www.facebook.com/BurtonAgnesHall
Burton Agnes is always a lovely place to visit as the seasons change, so this should make a particularly good autumn day out.
Makers & More at Driffield Showground
Sunday 11 October, 10:00–15:00
Driffield Showground will host another Makers & More Market in October, showcasing local creators, artisans, producers and small businesses.
Visitors can expect handmade crafts, gifts, art, jewellery, homeware, textiles, food and locally produced goods.
Entry and parking are advertised as free. https://www.facebook.com/littlehummingbirdevents
This is exactly the sort of event we love to see in Driffield — local businesses and makers getting an opportunity to meet customers face-to-face.
Driffield Business Expo 2026
Friday 16 October, 10:00–14:00
For local businesses, October also brings the Driffield Business Expo to the Rix Pavilion at Driffield Showground.
Organised by Driffield & District Business Club, the event brings businesses from around the area together for networking, exhibitions and opportunities to make new connections.
Last year’s Expo attracted 42 exhibitors and more than 140 visitors, and visitor passes for the 2026 event are free. https://www.facebook.com/thedriffieldshowground
For Driffield Is Great, events like this are a great reminder of just how broad and active the local business community is.
More railway events at Fimber Halt
Yorkshire Wolds Railway continues its programme into October.
Upcoming dates include a Static Engines event on Sunday 18 October, followed by Halloween events at Fimber Halt on Wednesday 28 October and Saturday 31 October.
So even as the railway’s normal running season approaches its end, there are still reasons to visit.
Halloween at Burton Agnes Hall
24 October to 1 November
October half-term brings another seasonal favourite to Burton Agnes.
Its Halloween Trail runs from Saturday 24 October through to Sunday 1 November, taking families through the Hall’s grounds and woodland with spooky scenes along the route.
This will be one we add to our half-term family guide as October gets closer.
Pick your own pumpkins throughout October
The Pumpkin Patch’s Pick Your Own dates continue across October, including weekends and additional days during the school half-term period.
Current 2026 dates include:
3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 October.
Sessions run from 10:00–16:00 and do not require advance booking.
Because the field is outdoors, the organiser advises that Pick Your Own events are weather dependent.
Explore the Yorkshire Wolds on foot
Autumn is also one of the best times of year to explore the countryside around Driffield.
As the colours begin to change and the temperature becomes a little cooler, routes such as the Wold Rangers Way provide a completely different way of experiencing the Yorkshire Wolds.
The approximately 44-mile circular route starts and finishes in Driffield, but you certainly don’t need to complete the whole trail.
There are shorter routes and individual sections for anyone who simply wants an afternoon in the countryside.
You can find our complete Wold Rangers Way walking guide in the Things to Do section.
Discover Driffield Millennium Green
You don’t need to leave Driffield to enjoy a little autumn nature either.
Driffield Millennium Green, near King’s Mill, offers open grassland, ponds, wildlife habitat and walking space only a short distance from the town centre.
It is particularly attractive as the seasons change and makes an easy option for a gentle walk without travelling far.
Our Driffield Millennium Green visitor guide has more information about the site, its wildlife and conservation work.
Step back thousands of years at Rudston
For something completely different, autumn is also a good time to explore some of the remarkable heritage surrounding Driffield.
At Rudston, visitors can find the extraordinary Rudston Monolith beside All Saints Church — an ancient standing stone almost eight metres high and recognised as the largest surviving monolith in Britain.
It is one of those places that many people drive surprisingly close to without realising it is there.
Read our Rudston Monolith guide in Things to Do for the history and practical visitor information.
More autumn events are on the way
This is only the beginning of the autumn programme.
As October moves towards November, we’ll continue adding:
- Halloween activities
- school half-term events
- local markets
- community events
- Bonfire Night and fireworks
- seasonal food and drink
- autumn walks
- local business events
- early Christmas events as they are announced.
We’ll keep this guide updated as new events are confirmed, so check back regularly for more ideas around Driffield and the Yorkshire Wolds.
Have an event we should know about?
Are you organising an event in Driffield or the surrounding area this autumn?
We want Driffield Is Great to include as much of the local community as possible — from major shows and markets to school events, charity fundraisers, club activities, community sessions, workshops, live music and events being organised by local businesses.
If you have an event you would like us to list, send it to us through the Driffield Is Great “Submit an Event” page.
Listings can help more local people discover what’s happening, and submitting an event gives us the opportunity to consider it for our What’s On pages, seasonal guides and social-media coverage too.
If it’s happening around Driffield, we want to hear about it.
